Only a couple of days left: On 5th May the 6th Annual STV German Language School Maifest is taking place on 3349 J St  Sacramento, CA 95816.

The Maifest is one of mankind’s oldest traditions: It’s the celebration of nature’s bright reawakening after winter’s cold darkness. The ancient festival is now a colorful, joyous part of history and culture.
The custom of the maypole (the “Maibaum”) began in the tenth century, when villagers would erect a pole in the local square and decorate it with sausages, cakes and multicolored ribbons. Dancing around the maypole, medieval citizens believed, would bring good luck and wealth.
Its religious and superstitious aspects have long since disappeared, but the Maifest is still celebrated throughout Germany, where cities and villages are bedecked with colorful drapery and flowers and the maypole (“Maibaum) is decorated to show off the history and crafts of the town. The Maifest is a great opportunity to enjoy German food and delicacies. Traditionally, food is plentiful and beer and wine flow freely.

On Sunday, March 31st 2013 is Easter Sunday. That means there are only 4 weeks left to order your favorite German Easter products. This year we offer you over 150 Easter products. New products this year are from Lindt, Milka, Storck and there are also some new foods from Haribo. All products are available while supplies lasts. Also there may be longer shipping times when choosing DHL shipping option. To get your German Easter products in time, we highly recommend to order soon and to choose FedEx as shipping option.

We do now ship to Europe!

During the past few month, we got many request from customers living in the EU to ship to several European countries such as United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Italy, France and many more. All these customers are missing German Food and specialties, they know from the time they lived in Germany or when they visited Germany. Since it was a bigger technical and tax related issue, we were not able to serve the European countries – until now. Today we changed our system and added shipping to all European countries and some others (e.g. Switzerland, Turkey and Island). For all orders within Europe, we have to collect sales tax. After creating an account with a EU address, you will see the prices including tax. At checkout you will also see the tax rate. Good news: European customers do not have to worry about import tax and customs duty, because shipping within the EU is duty free. Our European shipping rates with FedEx starting from $12.91 for up to 10kg – an unbeatable price for FedEx Express Service!

Summer is going on – even in Germany ;-)

During the past weeks, there was cold and rainy weather in Germany, but now the summer is back. Temperatures are now between 25°C and 30°C (77°F and 86°F). Also, the temperatures are still high in the US, so please be aware of melting hazard when ordering chocolate or other heat sensitive German food products. We do recommend to wait for order chocolate or fruit gums until the end of September. However, we do also have many German foods which are not heat sensitive, such as dried soups, seasoning mixtures (Knorr Fix or Knorr Salatkroenung), Cereals, snack foods and many more. Ordering such foods is save, even during the hot summer month. If you have any concerns regarding the heat sensitivity of a special product, please feel free to contact us via Live Chat or by email.

Rising temperatures in Germany

Temperatures are rising slowly in Germany, so some German Food products will be out of stock for the summer break 2012. The most famous product, which is mostly not available from end of May until the beginning of September, is Ferrero MonCheri. Some general Information about the summer break is available on the MonCheri Homepage (Text is written in German). We recommend to order MonCheri and other heat sensitive German Food soon, since the temperatures here in the US are reaching the seventies these days.
